Mark was elected in May 2014, and has lived in the Eltham South ward for seven years. He moved into his current home in New Eltham at the start of 2011. He chaired the governing body of one of the borough’s primary schools for six years. He is passionate about improving the experience and outcomes of our children and hopes to use the insight he has gained at the school in a wider context.
After being brought up in Kent, Mark began his career as a journalist on local newspapers and has since worked for more than 20 years in the magazine industry. He was the Managing Director of Time Out for four years and now works as Publishing Director of a group of magazines aimed at visitors to London.
Mark serves on the Museum Of London Development Board, runs the Conservative Group’s School Governors Forum and has campaigned across the borough for a number of years. He is a member of New Eltham Residents’ Association, The Eltham Society and the Friends Of Avery Hill Park. In his spare time, he enjoys collecting records, watching films and walking Winston, a pug he and his partner adopted from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.
