Phone mast for Westmount Road rejected

T-mobile’s latest appeal to the Government’s Planning Inspectorate to accept their proposal for a telephone mast at the junction of Glenlea and Westmount Roads has been dismissed (November 20th 2007).

Councillors attend Eltham Lights Up

On Thursday, Eltham North Councillors Spencer Drury and Dermot Poston attended the ‘Talk Café’ in Passey Place as part of the Eltham Lights Up celebrations. At the event Councillors spoke with a number of residents from wards across Eltham.

Future still uncertain for Mycenae House Gardens

At the General Purposes Committee on the morning of Monday 12th November 2007 the Labour administration ignored the views of the many local residents who had turned up to express their concern over the plans for Mycenae House. Over 150 people had written into the council to express their concern and over 30 people turned up at the meeting on a Monday morning to find out if the Mycenae House grounds could be turned into a "Town or Village Green". This would have secured public access and allow future generations the enjoyment of the grounds.

Westcombe Society Christmas Bazaar

Your local Conservative Councillors Geoff Brighty and Alex Wilson attended the Westcombe Society Christmas Bazaar. As always there was an impressive turn out of local businesses and also an appearance by Axel Scheffler (The Gruffalo Illastrator).

Labour up to its usual tricks

Once again Labour have used their majority on Greenwich Council to deny local Conservatives a seat on the Blackheath Joint Working Party. Labour continue to take all three of the Greenwich Council nominations despite the increase in Conservative representation following the 2006 elections.  The item was requisitioned by the Conservative Group for discussion at a recent full Greenwich Council meeting following the resignation of a local Labour member only appointed a few months ago.

Eltham Centre parking concerns

At last weeks meeting of Greenwich Council, Eltham North Councillor Spencer Drury raised various issues relating to parking and traffic around the new Eltham Centre development, due to open later this month.


Plans for Hornfair Lido

A planning application to develop Hornfair Lido was submitted earlier this year. The application proposes a state of the art diving centre on the site, whilst ensuring the Lido itself is retained for public use and completely refurbished.
