Crossing time extended in Blackheath village

Conservative Councillor for Blackheath Westcombe ward, Geoff Brighty, has secured longer crossing time for Blackheath commuters. Last month Geoff contacted Transport for London (TfL) to raise the issue of the timing of the lights of the pedestrian crossing opposite Blackheath railway station.

Geoff was concerned about pedestrian safety as the lights were spending too long on amber/ the flashing green man leading to confusion about who had right of way. Geoff has now received confirmation from Transport for London that they will be adjusting the timing of the lights to bring them in line with Department of Transport regulations.

Geoff welcomed the news saying “I am very pleased that TfL has responded positively and made adjustments so that the timings should now comply with DfT standard and should be safe”.
