Great British Spring Clean

Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean (GBSpringClean) takes place this year from March 3-5 and is being backed by, amongst others, the RSPCA, the Marine Conservation Society, Costa, Greggs and McDonald's.

Blackheath Westcombe Conservative Councillor Geoff Brighty highlighted the campaign at a recent Council meeting and Greenwich Council will also be supporting the GBSpringClean.

Cllr Brighty said: “Taking part in community clear-ups is fun and really helps to make our neighbourhood a place that we can all be proud of. I am glad that Greenwich Council is as keen as I am to encourage this kind of community engagement.

"Greenwich Council is willing to provide promotional materials, advice, equipment and waste collection for any individual or group that would like to take part and can be contacted by emailing chris.elliott@royalgreenwich.gov.uk or you could contact Keep Britain Tidy.

"Litter is an increasing problem across our urban and rural environments and this scheme is an ideal way to do something about it. If you are thinking of joining in, let the Blackheath Westcombe Conservative Action Team know where and when. We'll be out and about too."
