Conservatives visit Avery Hill nursery to talk to parents

Local Conservative campaigner Adam Thomas recently visited the Avery Hill Nursery with Eltham's parliamentary candidate David Gold.  The nursery is based on the Avery Hill Estate and provides early years childcare for parents studying at Greenwich University, allowing young mums to study higher education courses.  The nursery provides an impressive set of services including a Forest School to help the children learn about nature and the environment, and is considered one of the best performing childcare facilities in the borough.

Adam and David spoke to teachers and parents to talk about childcare issues and how a Conservative government would be able to help.

This includes:

  • Free nursery care with new early years providers to give parents more choice                                            File 501
  • Creating 4,200 new Sure Start health visitors to support new parents before and after birth
  • A dedicated Early Years support team to promote child care issues at the heart of government
  • Taking a holistic approach to the funding of early intervention and parental support
  • Extending the right of parents to request felxible working

Adam said, 'the work that Paulina and her team do at Avery Hill Nursery is great, the nursery ia real asset to Eltham and provides an important service to young parents who want to study at university and  wouldn't normally be able to because of child care issues.'
