Ezra Aydin has been selected as the Conservative candidate for the Shooters Hill ward council by-election being held on 14th November. This latest unexpected by-election has been called following the resignation of one of the ward’s Labour councillors, 2 years into the 4 year council term.
Ezra works locally as a Robotics Researcher helping secure Britain's dominance in the emerging AI/Automated industry. He previously gained extensive experience working alongside officials in South East Asia, advising organisations on economic policies to open up growth for local businesses.
Ezra is a father one with a second on the way - and he shares concerns about rising costs which have affected many families locally, and concern around crime and public safety.
The by-election, in what is often seen as a safe Labour wards, follows Greenwich Conservatives’ victory in (now!) two by-elections in the last six months.
Ezra Aydin said: “It is a privilege to have been selected as the Conservative candidate for the Shooters Hill by-election. I’m looking forward to speaking to as many residents as possible over the next month on the issues that are important to our community."
"It’s crucial that we do more to reduce fly-tipping - which the Labour-run Council isn't taking seriously enough - and support our shopping parades, protect and improve our wonderful green spaces. We also need to make the ward safer - particularly after Sadiq Khan’s disastrous mismanagement of the Metropolitan Police. If elected I will work alongside our fantastic Conservative councillors to give the ward everything I’ve got.”
Councillor Matt Hartley, Leader of Greenwich Conservatives, said: “We are looking forward to supporting Ezra Aydin on the campaign trail. This unexpected by-election is an opportunity to elect someone who will work hard every day to get things done for the community - and it’s also an opportunity to send a message to the Labour-run Council which continues to demonstrate it has the wrong priorities for our borough. The whole local Conservative team will be out making our case to people across the ward over the coming weeks.”
